Sprout: One Second a Day ("Sprout", "the app") is made by jiacheng wei ("we", "us").
The app does not collect anything. It has no user accounts, no servers, and makes no network requests. Your videos, photos, notes and settings stay on your iPhone. We cannot see them, and neither can anyone else.
Everything the app creates is written to the app's own private storage area on your device (the iOS application sandbox):
None of this is uploaded. There is no cloud backup, no synchronisation, and no copy held by us.
One clarification, because it is the question people ask most: the app does not exclude its files from your iPhone's own backup. If you use iCloud Backup, or back your iPhone up to a computer, those backups are made by iOS and include app data, so restoring a new iPhone from one brings your days across. Those backups belong to you and to Apple; we have no access to them and no part in making them.
Nothing.
We do not collect personal data, usage data, analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, device identifiers, contacts, or location. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party SDK of any kind. It does not open network connections.
You can review or revoke any of these in iOS Settings → Sprout.
The beauty feature uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to find the position of a face in the current camera frame, so that smoothing can follow the face. This runs entirely on your device, in memory, frame by frame. No face data is stored, no face is identified or recognised, and nothing leaves the device. Turning the beauty switch off in the app's settings stops it.
We do not share, sell, rent or disclose your data, because we do not have it.
When you tap "Save to Photos" or "Share", iOS takes over: the resulting video is handed to Apple's Photos app or to the app you pick in the system share sheet. What happens to it after that is governed by that app's own privacy policy, not by ours.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, of any age. Parents who use it to record a child's growth should know that everything they record stays on their own device.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on our side and nothing for us to restore. If a memory matters to you, export the film and save it to your Photos library first.
These laws give you the right to access, correct, export, delete, and object to the processing of your personal data. They apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. All of your content is already in your own possession, on your own device, and you can delete it yourself at any time using the steps above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
If a future version of the app ever changes what it stores or sends, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above before that version ships. As long as the app makes no network requests, this policy will not materially change.
